These are temporary visas allowing Australian and overseas Businesses to employ skilled overseas workers in Australia for specific periods.
1- Temporary Business Entry
This visa is for employers (Australian or Overseas) who wish to hire skilled overseas workers to fill vacant positions in Australia. The department specifies the occupations that a visa under category can granted, however the list is quiet expansive.The procedure is a two steps process involving an approval for the sponsoring employer and the employee. In order to address the regional skilled shortage the department have soften the criteria for employers and employees where the employer and the position are located in regional Australia.
Also under this category organization in Australia can negotiate a labor agreement with the government Australia to bring employees from overseas where the occupation in question is not listed for the purpose of the general Temporary Business Entry Category.
Under this category representatives of overseas services suppliers (Service Sellers) can also come to Australia for periods ranging between six (6) and 12 months, to negotiate or enter into agreements to supply services in Australia. Another group of overseas organization who could utilize this visa are those wishing to establish regional offices in Australia and required some of their overseas staff for the establishment of the offices.
2- Medical Practitioners
These are temporary visas allowing Australian health institutions to sponsor and employ overseas trained medical practitioners, to work in Australia for up to 4 years. The overseas practitioner would need an approval for registration in the State or Territory where they will practice.
3- Educational Visas
These are temporary visas allowing Australian school, colleges, tertiary education providers or research institutions, to sponsor overseas academics on work assignments of up to 4 years. For schools in the position of a teacher, for tertiary and research institutions, academics, librarians, technicians, laboratory demonstrators and researchers can be granted these permits.
4- Working Holiday Maker Visa
These are temporary visas allowing people from specific countries aged 18 to 30 years old, to come on working holiday up to 12 months. The work permit allows a maximum of six (6) months with each employer.
Many overseas employees coming to Australia under the above categories (with the exception of Service Sellers and Working Holiday Makers) are able to apply after prescribed periods and circumstances for the Employer Sponsored Permanent visa.
With the exception of Working Holiday Makers all are other visa applicants under the above mentioned categories can bring members of their family unit with them. |
