Skilled Independent Overseas Student (Residence) visa

If you have obtained an Australian qualification in Australia as a result of at least two (2) years study while holding an eligible visa and you can nominate an occupation recognised to be in shortage in Australia, this visa may be for you to gain permanent residency in Australia. There is no sponsorship required and you must pass a points test. Points are allocated for skills, age, work experience, English language ability, spouse skills (where relevant), and other factors such as competency in a community language; investments in,qualifications obtained in and work experience in Australia.

Skilled Sponsored Overseas Student(Residence) visa

This visa have the same criteria as the above mentioned visa, except that you need to be sponsored by a close relative in Australia. The score to pass under this visa is lower than that of the Skilled - independent (Residence)

Skilled Regional (Residence) visa

If you hold a temporary visa such as, Skilled - Independent Regional (Provisional), Skilled - Designated Area - Sponsored (Provisional),or either of the Skilled - Regional Sponsored (Provisional) (see below and here) ,and have worked in Australia in regional/designated areas, you could qualify for this visa.

Skilled Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa

If you are in Australia as an overseas students and can not meet the pass mark for this visa for permanent residency. You can be sponsored by a close relative living in a designated area of Australia or by a state/territory government under this visa category. As the holder of this visa and living and working at the required location in Australia. You can apply for residency under the Skilled–Regional (Residence) visa(see above).

Skilled Graduate (Temporary) visa

If you have obtained qualifications after studying in Australia for two (2) years and can not meet the pass mark for a permanent residency visa under any of the above mentioned categories. This visa gives you an 18 months full work rights in Australia, to allow you to undertake relevant work experience and gain extra point towards the pass mark required for the permanent residency
